Barbie goes Green at your local Walmart

by Katja Presnal on October 31, 2008

Barbie is famous for her signature pink outfits, but on November 8th, Barbie is going green at your local Walmart.

Walmart is hosting a fun event “Give Back with Barbie Cares,” and encouraging girls to contribute to a more sustainabla pilot program exploring toy recyclabilitye future and recycling. Children are welcomed to the in-store event to bring and recycle their old Barbie dolls to be used in a pilot program exploring toy recyclability. For each doll donated, Mattel will donate a new doll to a local children’s hospital, up to 100,000 dolls.

The event is a great way to show girls how a little thing, like donating a doll, can become a big thing when we all do it together. There will also be special Barbie-related giveaways. Remember to bring along your digital camera to snap a picture with Barbie (live Barbie in selected stores) and receive a coupon to print a free 4×6” photo from the Kodak Picture Maker that same day.

WHEN: November 8th, 3 PM

WHERE: At participating Walmart stores across the nation. Check out for more information and the store locations.
