Macy’s Holiday Traditions

by Katja Presnal on November 22, 2008

The thought that hit me today… We have just moved to New York, and Thanksgiving is almost here. I had totally forgotten about the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade and this Thanksgiving we are not just watching this tradition on TV, but actually going and seeing it in person.

I’m so exited to take the kids to see the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade for the first time ever – if you have any tips besides “get there early and bring warm clothes” I would love to hear, especially which place would be the best to go.

Writing letters to Santa Claus is another tradition for children all over the world. Macy’s is collecting these letters in a special Santa letterbox at all Macy’s stores. For each letter received, Macy’s will donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Believe Meter will measure America’s belief, based on our collective spirit – including the amount of letters received and other current events that reflect the season’s generosity.
