Last year, there was the writers’ strike, and this year the People’s Choice Awards stars rocked the red carpet. Well, most of them did.
Is it just me, or do you think the economy shows even in the Hollywood Glamour? I think many stars could have used more help from their stylists, hairdressers and make-up artists and the People’s Choice Awards looks looked like they were also put together by people themselves this time. Carrie Underwood outshone everyone else, and not just with one look, but by changing dresses like Katherine Heigl in 27 Dresses.
Black is a safe choice – or is it?
Speaking of Katherine Heigl, she looked fabulous in her men’s style suit and snatched the People’s Choice Award for the Favorite Comedy Movie.

Maybe not haute couture and glamour, but stylish and fashionable. Katherine Heigl wore Dolce & Gabbana suit and Jimmy Choo heels – who could go wrong with Dolce & Gabbana and Jimmy Choo?
Little black dress is something every woman should own, and usually it is the safe choice… but I think even the always safe little black dress didn’t work for Jennie Garth nor Reese Witherspoon. I like the Reese’s dress, but the look is something I wore already in early 90′s and it lacks the needed accessories, hair and the do to make it red carpet worthy.

Jennie Garth was trying to catch the Old Hollywood Glamour train, but missed it

Reese Witherspoon looked beautiful in her black dress, but not like the best paid Hollywood actress (which she is)

Sorry, but Teri Hatcher’s ribbons in the hem are not doing it for me either, even though the wrap style is so in and she looks stunning.
Flower Power
I don’t really think flower print is all that glamorous, but it is very Jewel, and she actually pulls it off pretty good. How ever, the belle of the ball, Carrie Underwood doesn’t have any luck with her flower print.

Jewel makes flower power work in this country-flower-girl-meets-Hollywood-glamour look.

Carrie Underwood in Naeem Khan gown, Rene Caovilla shoes, Cinta by John Hardy jewels and a Mary Norton clutch. The true beauty of the flower dress just didn’t come through TV screen.
Bright Colors
Carrie Underwood however looked absolutely stunning in her other two dresses.

Other stars who opted for stunning colors were Marisa Tomei and Kate Hudson. Both wore bold colors and their looks bring out their personalities out well.

Marisa Tomei looks elegant and sophisticated in her Donna Karan dress.

Kate Hudson looks like her mother 25 years ago in her Gucci gown

I think the green dress Carrie Underwood was wearing is beautiful! That would have to be my favorite :-)
By the way, thanks for the nice comment on my blog today! It was neat to hear that you had lived in Germany. Did you like it there? My parents had a hard time adjusting at first, but they are really enjoying it now.
Take care!

I think I like Carrie Underwood’s colorful sense of style and she looks great in anything.
