Today is my son’s 6th birthday and while I wanted to do a blog post about my son tonight, I have to share a few pictures of my four legged son instead…
We took the birthday boy for movies to see Hotel for Dogs, and when we came back home, our house was a mess! Our new dog Austin had gotten to our pantry, where we also storage our recycling boxes. Austin had ripped everything off the paper recycling box, ripped a whole bag of dog food and a whole container of gold fish (you know, the big box that lasts for a month for three kids), among other things…
But he seemed pretty proud of his surprise for us… or what do you say his face says..?
I wish I could say I did something dramatic to prevent this from happening again, but just seeing the mess, the dogs happy and obviously proud face (and my husband’s face when he saw this) I almost wetted my pants, I laughed so hard.

PS. Austin had his Kong chew toy, but obviously this time it didn’t provide him enough excitement…

He really is cute… which is one reason he’s safe. :)
OH MY!!!
You are right, he looks so proud.
Oh no! What a horrible mess, but, if your pup consumed anything, I hope he doesn’t get sick! Interesting that you went to see Hotel for Dogs. I haven’t seen it, but now I’m wondering if there is an obvious connection between the movie’s storyline and what happened while you were away from home for a few hours! ~Arleen
Oh no! You have a Marley on your hands! Enjoy… ;)
Looks like Austin had a good time!

Oh, boy, what a mess. That is why I don’t like having pets IN the house. Clean after husband, kids AND now after dog. Must be fun!!!
You are truly a kind and tolerant mother! Yikes. How was the movie? Roo’s been wanting to see that.
Austin is adorable but I love all animals. Could it be separation anxiety? I don’t know enough about it to talk about it. We have a German Shep and when he was just a pup, we had to leave him at home alone. When we returned, he had done something similar so we got him a huge crate (wire) and started leaving him in that. It seemed to make a difference. He felt secure in there and sleeps in it every night. But we don’t leave him in for more that 5-6 hours during the day if we go. Just a suggestion if you didn’t think of that, we hadn’t.
Compliments on what you did about the Motrin commercial! Good for you and everyone else who contributed!

He looks so incredibly proud of himself that I would have found it very hard not to crack up laughing! Poor Austin Beagle! (I like calling him that — I think it should be his full name!) :)
Too bloody cute! He’s pretty proud!
Oh my gosh, I had a beagle once, they are such stinkers! Sorry about your mess and thanks for sharing!
Our dog, Bennie, does this whenever we put a little too much faith into his ability to control himself outside of a kennel when we leave. I wish kong toys filled with peanut butter would be enough to grab his attention, but ripping up packages of batteries and chewing holes in blankets seem to be his chosen method of entertaining himself.
Too cute. Kongs are great, but sometimes they just don’t want to use them!
I have a beagle dog and beagle coonhound mix that just love to chew and hate toys to chew on… They mostly chew when we leave for a little bit as if to show me their feelings about being left at home. Love them though, they are both pound pups I would not trade!
We have a beagle too. And while he has never done this specific naughty thing, he has done his fair share for sure. He seems to have an affinity for tearing up our bed pillows. :)
