by Katja Presnal on February 12, 2009

I can not believe how fast this month has gone so far and it’s almost Valentine’s Day!

I admit… I haven’t done anything for Valentine’s Day so far… but I have Walmart to the rescue!

I downloaded Walmart’s Blow a Kiss iPhone application and have been having fun with it and finding great (and cheap) gift ideas from the store and sending kisses for my friends. And yes, you really blow in your iPhone to send kisses and get new gift ideas.

In addition to the gift ideas from the stores, the Walmart community shares great Valentine’s Day tips and you can even send your own personalized Valentine’s Day cards at Walmart.com.

One of my favorites at the site is the Top Love Songs of All Times and I hope you like it too, because you have a change to win an Apple iPod Touch 2nd Generation 8GB and $10 Walmart Gift Card with what you can download ten love songs!

My last minute Valentines Day Tip is if you don’t have a lot of money to purchase a nice gift, check out your local thrift shops, like Goodwill, you would be amazed at the treasures you can find there for under $5!! I have actually purchased brand new well known designer name brands for my 3 kids and my husband there and the items still had the original price tags on them! You can really do well there if you take the extra time to really look through the racks! Happy VD to you All!

VD tip:
make sure to say I LOVE YOU!!
maybe it gets lost but its that simple without chocolate or gifts of shinny things or anything like that. maybe thats why some guys don’t like it because the truth gets lost…but don’t get me wrong I love shinny things!

Online greeting cards are mostly free, and if you need to send a gift why not send an e-giftcard

Last minute Valentine’s gift tip- A couple years ago, I put off Valentine’s shopping until the very last minute – like Feb. 13th. Panic mode usually sparks my creativity. I picked up a six pack of my sweetie’s favorite import beer (Bass & Co’s Pale Ale), took it to the florist who very kindly added balloons, flowers and ribbons. The finished product looked so impressive. I had it delivered to him at work. The florist only charged me $15 including delivery. I left a $10 tip – so for $25 I had a really nice, unique Valentine’s Day Bouquet that he loved.
Everyone loves a delivery at work!!
That paired with his favorite meal, ready after work , turned out to be a really nice gift.
It’s so weird, my sister just called to tell me that she will be giving her boyfriend a Beer Bouquet this year!! I told her I was just writing about that!!!
A marketing opportunity???

Last-minute tip for V-Day is to relax, and get out a pen and paper, and write a heartfelt letter to your loved one telling him or her why you love them.

My last minute gift tip is to make something crafty with what you have on hand. For instance, cutting and pasting a construction paper heart is ideal and also very thoughtful. I believe that for the most part, personally made gifts are more special and will be remembered for years to come!

The one thing I always do at the last minute is pick up boxes of candy. I always say that I’ll buy my elderly neighbors and mother-in-law something “different”…….but they look forward to the candy and even drop hints….very funny and not too subtle! So, it’s candy again this year :o) Thanks!
