Lipizzaner Horses at Madison Square Garden – Win 4 Tickets!

by Katja Presnal on July 15, 2009

I saw the Lipizzaner Stallions in Europe when I was a child, and I am so excited to see these beautiful horses at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, October 17th!

The show was something I will never forget, the beauty of the strong animals, the precision of the movement and of the co-operation between an animal and a man. For over 400 years, the Lipizzaner Stallions have been recognized for their amazing grace and beauty. This year the Lipizzaner Stallions are on their 40th Anniversary Tour and the Dancing White Stallions present a Tribute to Vienna, where they were trained already 400 years ago, and the show includes the “Airs Above The Ground”. My family was invited to see the show, and I am very excited not just to take my kids to see it, but also offer free tickets to another family. The show is equine ballet, beautiful white horses literally dancing while the show also educates about the historical background of the Lipizzaner horses.

Tickets $30.00 – $125.00 now available

I dont really have any great tips for the city…..have not taken our daughter there too often yet…only to see shows….we LOVE shows in our house so that is one of our special family day outings! Of course the museums are a must too!!!

I am going to this show either way…my girlfriends daughter has 3 horses so to bring her with us would be a great gift for a great kid!!!

We love to choose one fun thing to do in NYC and also have lunch or dinner there. We love the museums, American Girl Place and this summer we are going to take the double decker bus tour and visit the Madame Alexander factory.

Central Park is the best. Especially the zoo.

The most fun I had with my daughter in NYC was in Central Park having a picnic and just running and playing and of course just watching all the interesting people. My Mom is 82 years old and has always wanted to see the Lippizzaner Stallions, this is such a wonderful giveaway!

This is my husband’s birthday and we’d all love to go!

One of my favorite places in NYC with kids is the playground in Morningside Park at 117th St. It’s new and pretty amazing!

I am fortunate enough to live very close to two very famous kid friendly NY landmarks, The Bronx Zoo and The New York Botanical Garden. While they are wonderful year round and host various family friendly activities on a rotating schedule throughout the year, they are both an absolute wonderland at Christmas! The Garden offers Thomas the Train, and the Zoo formerly hosted the Holiday of Lights which they changed last year, but still host holiday themed activities. They are both great places to go with children year round!

I can be reached via my blog easily at Ascending Butterfly! (this way my email doesn’t show up in my post)

NYC is a kid haven! There is so much to stimulate all their senses – from the multiple of world known sites to incredible food from sushi to pizza. After the show we would take a pediride (one of those open bike seats) up to Central Park to walk around and include learning about the birds in the park at the Baelvedere Castle, watch the skaters on the Ramble, take a boatride around the lake, view the Alice in Wonderland and Balto statues and talk about the stories. And of course finish off the day with a horse drawn carriage ride around the park ending at Travern on the Green – not for dinner – way too pricy – but for a view and then a sandwich and tea at Alice’s Tea Cup on the westside.

NYC offers so much, picking one best tip is hard … but I’ll go with Battery Park City Conservancy. From the expansive parks to the playgrounds, free athletics and arts programs, plethora of available lawn toys and games, this place has kept me and my kids busy for years!! The people who run the kids programs are so lovely also and always remember the regulars and welcome the newcomers. Very special place.

Take kids to Ellen’s Stardust Diner to see singing and dancing while you dine.

The best tip about what to do with the kids in NYC is to go to the Museum of Natural History. It is reasonable, air conditioned, has loads to see and do, and when they get bored, is right across from Central Park!
