Did we just get burnt by FeedBurner? Stay with us.

2048.

It’s a pretty big number I think.

And no, that’s not the number of RSS-feed subscribers we lost this morning when Google’s Feedburner stopped working (update: they are just having some problems).

2048 is the number of blog posts I have written on Skimbaco Lifestyle the past five years. Over 2000 posts and five years of active work, and the feeling that overnight I lost many of the RSS-feed subscribers that have been subscribing Skimbaco feed for years is just devastating.

I hope we didn’t lose contact forever, and you will come back.

It’s EASY: SUBSCRIBE our Skimbaco Lifestyle newsletter HERE.

I have been working the past 6 hours trying to figure out how to use Feedblitz, our new feed and newsletter provider and make it all new and even better than before.

I am a big believer that you can make lemonade out of lemons, and I am actually very excited about updating our feed-features and making it even easier for you to stay in touch.

Now: better content and better emails

I know… we have gone through many changes this year, as we first migrated all of our four blogs under one online magazine, and then started posting content in a completely new, and very weird language, Finnish, and it has taken me a while to figure this all out. I apologize for the big mess for our subscribers.. and for me not taking the time to serve YOU better. On the top of everything, of course I accidentally sent out TWO newsletters today making many upset. I get it – I don’t like receiving newsletters all the time either!

So here is the thing: I get that some of you want to get every single post we publish, and some want only to receive certain topics. I am working so hard making it super easy for you to pick and choose what you want, and I completely admit – I am not a tech savvy person AT ALL and it is not easy for me, but I am trying to figure out the best ways to serve you. I am also making our content – now created more as like newsletters- go out only once a week, each topic on a different day so even if you want to subscribe to a few feeds via email, you won’t hear from us all the time.

SUBSCRIBE TO SKIMBACO NEWSLETTERS

If you want to subscribe to one awesome email sent by us once a week SUBSCRIBE our Skimbaco Lifestyle newsletter. If you prefer feed subscription service, subscribe to this new feed. Simple as that.

Bloggers? Did you get burnt too?
Read this at Feedblitz and get the migration manual here to migrate your feed from Feedburner to Feedblitz. There are other options, but after consulting with around 120 other bloggers in an emergency session sort of speak, the Feedblitz seems to the hands down the best option.

Comments

  1. The “0 Subscribers” figure scared the crap out of me too this morning, but naturally, I just figured I’d screwed something up. It’s a huge relief to find out I didn’t lose the 22 subscribers (18 of whom apparently aren’t even actual people and 1 of whom is me) I worked so hard to get.

I can only imagine how people with popular blogs must have felt…

    • Hi Daniel, you have one more real subscriber now. Thank you so much for taking time to comment on my blog – and it doesn’t matter if we have 10 readers or 10,000 every single comment and every single reader matters equally. I am just honored that people read our site and felt kind of bad knowing that I haven’t provided good service and making it easy for people to do it and hadn’t really paid enough attention to the RSS feed stuff. Looking forward reading your posts and connecting better!
