I had the opportunity to get to know so many new-to-me designers during the New York Fashion Week and one of them was Shauntelé. Shauntelé made her native city New York proud with the stylish black and white collection showed in a showroom built in the Empire Hotel. Instead of a catwalk – the models were standing and you had a great opportunity to see the clothes up and close. I longed for seeing the movement in the catwalk and how the clothes looked in the movement, although this allowed seeing the clothes and details like seams. Clothes can often look great on mannequins and when you just stand, but you can’t really judge clothing until you see the movement.
My favorites are the outfit with white trousers and the light silk outfit on the left. I loved the simple cuts, but yet how all of the pieces in this collection made a statement – like the little black dress with a twist and white blazer with a different hem. A solid collection for those who want to dress outside the box.
