WHAT’S SKIMBACO?
Skimba is a Finnish slang word for skiing and CO is for Colorado - Skimbaco is a word I made to mean not just skiing in Colorado, but meaning living life to the fullest, enjoying every minute of it and doing what you love.

“Skiing in Colorado” is just one fun thing to do with the family, Skimbaco was born we lived in Durango, Colorado. “Whale watching in Cape Cod” might have done it for us, or “shopping in NYC”, or “castle-hopping in Germany”. This blog’s tagline was for a long time “from skiing in Colorado to shopping in New York City”, and it must have been meant to be, because we actually moved from Colorado to New York in August 07.

Great product finds for moms and children, tips from buying shoes to helping your child to start the school.. I also share my love to modern design, everything Finnish, and offer life wisdom beyond my years. (Really, someone told me that in a blog comment, I didn’t make it up). I love to spread sunshine, share great ideas and products, and inspire you to live life to the fullest.

I’m originally from Finland, but I’ve lived in the US for 7 years now. It all started over eleven years ago when me and my husband’s worlds collided and we met in Germany. My husband Matt is from Texas so it must have been destiny. We have lived in five different countries, and in seven states, and even our three children were all born in different countries! My children are now all in the elementary school and I have more time to focus my life as a full time blogger and PR/ Social Media Marketing Consultant. I started my online career with ecommerce, and originally Skimbaco.com was an online store selling products for modern families.
