I’m Katja Presnal, and I am behind the brand Skimbaco.
What is “skimbaco”? Skimbaco is lifestyle to live life to the fullest, enjoy every minute of it. Modern mom’s carpe diem.
Skimbaco started as an online store in 2006. As an owner of an online retail store I embraced the word-of-mouth marketing, and I got more and more involved with social media and blogging while marketing my store with a shoe-string budget. I was impressed by all the bloggers and wanted to be part of the blogging community and started Skimbaco Lifestyle blog in June 2007.
In May 2008 Tom Cruise endorsed a pair of ladybug shoes, that I had sent to his daughter Suri, on Oprah Show and I was on brief limelight for getting such great exposure for products from my store. I paid it forward and started offering free social media marketing and PR help for small business owners. At some point I noticed that most of my day went to answering other small business owners’ questions how to market your products online and started offering consulting for living.
I have closed my store now, and focus on blogging at Skimbaco Lifestyle and I just launched a new blog Skimbaco Home. I am for hire as a PR/ Social Media Consultant and you can read more about the ways I can help you and your company to reach your target audience at my PR Service page.

I am a mother of three kids, they are 6, 7 and 9 years old. I’m originally from Finland, but met my Texan husband in Germany 11 years ago, and we have been traveling and moving around Europe and United States together ever since. My husband is a helicopter test pilot. I studied mechanical engineering and production management in college, but worked on PR/marketing jobs at the same time. My first PR job was straight from high school. We have been moving a lot due my husband’s career and I wanted to stay home with our children. I started an online business so I could do both, be a full time mother and a wife, and full fill my career dreams. I have never looked back and I love what I do.
I have been in a very unique position, I have seen first hand what it is to market to moms using social media tools and I know what it is to be a blogger in this space being pitched by PR companies. My goal as a blogger is to provide content and information that my readers find useful and/or entertaining while offering companies a way to market to moms in an authentic way via borrowing my voice and authentic opinions. I pride to write only honest reviews.
I have been interviewed by AdAge, Entrepreneur magazine, featured in Earnshaws trade magazine, and mentioned on several professional sites like Mashable, Ogilvy PR 369 Blog, and several other influential sites. I am one of Walmart’s Elevenmoms, and one of Hanes Comfort Crew members. I have been speaking in several social media and blogging conferences such as Jeff Pulver’s Social Communications Summit, BlissDom and Mind of Moms Summit.

I want to offer a peek into my life as a mother, wife and a mompreneuer, and share my opinion of products, events, travel destinations and everything related to a fun family lifestyle.
