Here is inspiration for Moroccan Nights themed party for your backyard.

Last week we also kicked off weekly tips for entertaining at home and the past few weeks I have been also working on a backyard makeover for my friend and getting started with a big Skimbaco Home backyard feature for summer 2011. I have been scouting for backyard trends for 2011, and sharing tips how to get your backyard ready for summer. I’ve been flipping through magazines and blogs for pictures, and I wanted to create a backyard of relaxing oasis where my friend could host parties and relax by the fire with her husband, and enjoy summer at home. While Moroccan decorating theme has been in for quite a few years already, you can still see the pouches, pillows, torches and Moroccan style lanterns as the decorating and party trends, and I wanted to go with Moroccan Nights theme for Relaxing Oasis backyard party.

Some elements of Moroccan backyard parties:

– Lots of pillows and fabrics
– Strong contrasting colors in fabrics like table clothes, curtains, pillows and also in dinnerware
– Torches and lanterns, outdoor fireplace or fire pit, and lots of string lights or candles
– Low tables work well with pillow seating
– Meat & veggies on skewers
– Moroccan tea served in glasses
– Easy veggie wraps or veggies with dips

Here are some of the pictures in my inspiration board.

I love the rich table setting and the color combination here:

Wedding websites are great resources for getting ideas for your at home parties too… They always have great ideas that you can use. Maybe not as extravagant, but at least one of two ideas from one table setting. From this one you could just steal the DIY tassel napkin ring:

These amazing looking wraps were actually served at a baby shower… but you don’t need a pregnant lady to make this table of yumminess for your Moroccan themed party.

Stay tuned for a big backyard makeover reveal on Monday and to see if we were able to incorporate some of these Moroccan theme ideas in my friends backyard so she can have Moroccan themed parties in her backyard.

So excited to see your friend’s backyard makeover! I love the lush, over-the-top splendor of the Moroccan look… so different from the sparse and clean Scandinavian stuff we usually gravitate towards but somehow it goes together. Either bare or bombarded, I say!
