I partnered with the Merial NexGard® (afoxolaner) “Doggone Funny” program to share a few fun moments with our puppy Hugo for a great cause, and I hope you will join us!

Dog owners go to great lengths to keep their dogs healthy and happy: from sharing their bed with a 90-pound dog to cooking a special meal to disguise their dog’s medication. The NexGard “Doggone Funny” program is asking dog owners nationwide to share stories about their laugh-out-loud dog and the funny things they do to keep their pets happy. For every social action, which includes submitting a social post and watching the NexGard “Doggone Funny” video, Merial, the maker of NexGard, will sponsor $1, up to $100,000, to Canine Companions for Independence, a national non-profit organization that provides highly trained assistance dogs to children, adults and veterans with disabilities free of charge.

From now until October 21, 2015, you can share the funny things that your dog does and/or that you do for your dog on Instagram™ or Twitter™ using the #DoggoneContest hashtag or watch the NexGard “Doggone Funny” video. Every share will help place more Canine Companions for Independence® assistance dogs with deserving individuals in need. Dog owners can visit doggonecontest.com to watch the NexGard “Doggone Funny” video featuring Sarah Hyland, view submitted social posts and learn more about the program.

We recently started Hugo his own Instagram account – I know it’s silly, but it’s really for our own amusement than anything else. Everyone in the family has the password, so it’s even funnier that Hugo actually will have different “voice” each time.

I truly think living with a dog is living life to the fullest. There is never a dull moment with Hugo, and frankly, even when he is sleeping he reminds us of him with his steady and semi-loud snoring. Does he drive me nuts? Absolutely, and so does my husband our our kids, but that is given with people and the pets you live with!

Two weeks ago Hugo chewed my favorite heels, today he was walking on the top of the fence, and I am panicking if he jumps on the other side. The dog days of free roaming on the backyard are now officially over, and it also means that I need to be ready for more and longer walks to keep Hugo busy!

The long walks are barely the only way to pamper dogs.

I mean, who could you not get a dog used to working with you, when he fit in your lap this perfectly? Well, 30 pounds ago.

Dogs also need to travel, and see the world, right? Hugo is still too young leave the country, but he has already been on three road trips with us. Dogs need to get used to traveling from young age, just like the kids!

Join me and Hugo and post a video or image of your doggone funny dog with #DogGoneContest on Instagram or Twitter! The top three #DoggoneContest social media posts from dog owners will receive $5,000 from Merial, the maker of NexGard.

Merial partnered with bloggers like me for its “Doggone Funny” program. As part of this program, I received compensation for my time. They did not tell me what to say about any product mentioned in these posts. Merial believes that consumers and bloggers are free to form their own opinions and share them in their own words.
